We currently have three of our 400cfm electric drive air compressors on hire at Canary Wharf for the groundworks stage of a large construction project.
Canary Wharf is part of the Central Activities Zone and as such is subject to the strictest emission control regulations in London. Being electric drive these compressors are of course zero emission and can be used in any of the ULEZ areas.
Electric drive air compressors offer other advantages over their diesel drive equivalents aside from their lack of emissions. Electric motors are virtually silent compared to a diesel engine. This reduction in noise pollution can mean, depending on the application, that they can be used later in the evening or earlier in the morning without being consididered antisocial.
Electric air compressors also don’t require refuelling. This means when they’re positioned on site access for diesel deliveries don’t need to be considered. Housed in fully weatherised enclosures they can be used indoors, on a roof or in the corner of a construction site.
Electric drive compressors benefit from exceptional service intervals. A diesel drive compressor requires serving every 500 hours. An electric drive 4000 hours. Equivalent to running 10 hours a day, 7 days a week for a year.
Our range of electric drive compressors were designed and are built by us to meet the needs of the compressor rental market. A large part of that market is the London construction industry that deals with a unique set of pressures and requirements, especially around emission regulation. London also benefits from good availability of 3 phase power.
Our electric air compressors fit perfectly to take advantage of this power availability and are a solution to the challenges of reducing emissions.
